डॉक्टर तुम्ही सुद्धा !
जन्म आणि मृत्यु मर्त्य माणसाच्या हाती नाही , हे खर वाटतंय का? एखाद्या प्रसंगात आजारी माणुस दगावण्याची दाट शक्यता असतांना आणि त्याच्या घरच्या मंडळीनी त्याच्या वाचण्याची आशा सोडली असतांना डॉक्टर प्रयत्नांची शिकस्त करून त्याला वाचवतात आणि त्या रुग्णासाठी देवदूत ठरतात.डॉ.राणीताई बंग, डॉ.प्रकाश आमटे, डॉ.जगदीश सामंत, डॉ.कोल्हे दाम्पत्य,अशी कितीतरी नावे देवदूत म्हणून घ्यावी लागतील. शहरात हॉस्पिटल मध्ये दाखल केलेल्या रुग्णाच्या उपचारावर प्रचंड पैसे खर्च केल्यानंतरही त्याच्या वाचण्याची हमी डॉक्टर देवू शकत नाहीत.ग्रामीण भागात उपचारासाठी पुरेशा सुविधाच उपलब्ध नाहीत. आणि तशा सुविधा उपलब्ध असल्याच तरी सामान्य रुग्णांना त्या परवडणा-या नाहीत. ग्रामीण भागात असणारी ग्रामीण रुग्णालय,आणि जिल्हा परिषद रुग्णालये आपल्या परीन प्रयत्न करत असतातच पण अपुरी वैद्यकीय साधने आणि त्यासाठी आवश्यक असणारा कुशल तंत्रज्ञ यांच्या अभावी त्यांचे हात तोकडे ठरतात.एखादा अनुचित प्रसंग घडल्यास त्यांचे स्पष्टिकरण बेमालुम असते, वैद्यकीय भाषेत they have tried their best but merely it depend on response from patient and his luck अशा परिस्तीतीत रुग्णाच जीवन हे जन्म आणि मृत्यु ह्यांच्या सिमेवर फिरत राहणार. ह्या परीस्तीतीला जबाबदार फक्त आणि फक्त त्या रुग्णाच दैव, जिथे डॉक्टर नितू मांडके सारख्या निष्णात हृदयरोगतज्ञ स्वतःचा जीव वाचवू शकले नाही तिथे सामन्यांची काय पत्रास?
पण गेल्या काही वर्षात विज्ञान अतिप्रगत झालं.स्टेम सेल,कृत्रिम झडपा,गुडघ्याची वाटी,त्वचा याचं सहज पणे रोपण होवू लागल.जैविक विज्ञानाने आणि संगणकातील अचूकतेने डॉक्टरना वेगळी शक्ती बहाल केली. मोठ्या हॉस्पिटलमध्ये असणाऱ्या सुविधा इतक्या प्रगत झाल्या कि मृत्यूच्या देवतेला रुग्णा शेजारी तिष्टत राहाण डॉक्टरांनी भाग पाडलं. म्हणुनच शहरात एकदा रुग्ण हॉस्पिटलमध्ये दाखल झाला कि त्याची काळजी डॉक्टर घेणारच ह्या खात्रीने कुटुंबीय निर्धास्त राहू शकतात. रुग्णाला मृत्युच्या दारातून माघारी आणण्याचं कौशल्य तज्ञ डॉक्टरनी आत्मसात केले आहे. मात्र ग्रामीण भागातील परीस्तीती आजही फारशी सुधारलेली नाही,लोकांच्या आरोग्याची काळजी ग्रामीण रुग्णालय घेत असली तरी रुग्णालयातील सुविधा तोकड्या असल्यानी ह्या रुग्णालयातील डॉक्टर रुग्णाला चिट्ठी देवुन खाजगी रुग्णालयात उपचारासाठी पाठवतात,कधी त्या मागे रुग्णावर योग्य उपचार व्हावे हि तळमळ असते तर कधी कधी खाजगी डॉक्टर जवळून मिळणारी कटिंगची कमाई त्याना खुणावत असते. डॉक्टर त्यानां वैद्यकीय पदवी मिळतांना शपथ घेतात “माझ्या ज्ञानाचा आणि कौश्यल्याचा वापर मी रुग्णासाठी करेन आणि रुग्णाचे हित लक्षात घेवून मी प्रामाणिकपणे व्यवसाय करेन “ असा त्या प्रतिज्ञेचा अर्थ असतो.कालांतराने ती शपथ विसरायला होते. डॉक्टर होण्यासाठी खर्च केलेले पैसे, घालवलेली वर्षे, पैशाला,श्रीमंतीला समाजात असलेल स्थान,संधी आहेच तर सोडा कशाला? असा सहज आलेला विचार ह्या पाई डॉक्टरी हा पेशा न राहता तो व्यवसाय होतो,नफा कमावण्यासाठी मग सार काही माफ ठरत. समाजात आजही मुलीला दिला जाणारा दर्जा या वर प्रश्न चिन्ह आहे,अगदी कितीही पदव्या धारण केल्या आणि कितीही उच्च पद धारण केल आणि कुटुंबासाठी कितीही ती राबली तरी तिच्या कुटुंबात तीच असणार स्थान हे घरातल्या कर्त्या पुरुषा पेक्षा गौण समजला जात.या मधूनच समाजात मुलीचा जन्म म्हणजे जणू घरावर आपत्तीच समजली जाते.जन्म दात्री आईही तिने मुलीला जन्म दिला आहे हे कळताच दु:खी होते.या मानसिकते मधूनच ग्रामीण भागात तसेच शहरात स्त्री भृण हत्या राजरोसस होतात, ज्यांनी रुग्णाला त्याच्या अंतिम श्वास चाले पर्यंत वाचवण्याची शपथ घेतलेली असते तेच स्त्री भृण संपवायला पालकांना मदत करतात.आजही मुलींच्या लग्नाचा होणारा बाजार,द्यावा लागणारा हुंडा,तिच्या सासरच्या मंडळींकडून हुंड्यासाठी होणारी पिळवणूक ह्या सगळ्याचा विचार करता अनेक पालकांना मुलगी म्हणजे धोंड वाटू लागते. भविष्यातील प्रश्न मुलीच्या जन्माने उदभवू नये म्हणून गर्भ किंवा लिंग चाचणी करून स्त्री भृण असल्यास काढून टाकला जातो.कायद्यान बंदी असुनही ह्या कानाच त्या कानाला कळू न देता अशा धंद्यात निष्णात असणारी डॉक्टर मंडळी पालकानकडून खोट संमती पत्र लिहुन घेतात. अडलेल्या कुटुंबाकडून त्याची चांगली किंमत वसुलही करतात.
पुरुष आणि स्त्रिया यांचा समाजात असमतोल असुनही कायद्याने लिंग चाचणीला बंदी असुनही केवळ पैशाच्या हव्यासापाई सारे खुले आम चालते. ज्यांनी जीव वाचवायचा तोच कळी फुलण्या अगोदरच तीच समूळ उच्चाटन करतो.खरच का हो तुम्ही अशा माणसाला देवाची उपमा द्याल ? अनावरस जन्माला येणाऱ्या संततीमुळे एखाद्या स्त्रीची भविष्यात होणारी कुचंबणा थांबवण्यासाठी जरी डॉक्टर उपाय करत असले तरी त्या कळीचा अपराध काय ? तिचा फुलण्याचा हक्क नाकारणारे आम्ही कोण ? विशेषतः ग्रामीण भागात घराला,आणि वंशाला कुलदीपक हवा ह्या खोट्या इर्शेपाई मुलगी जन्मला आली तर घरातलीच मंडळी तीच जीवन संपवून टाकतात. अगदी सुशिक्षित कुटुंबातहि सुनेने गर्भारपणात अडचण सोसून दोन दोन कन्याना जन्म दिल्यावर आणि त्यासाठी ऑपरेशन करावे लागले असतांना कुलदीपक जन्माला यावा म्हणून जेव्हा कुटुंब त्या मातेला तिसऱ्या वेळी पणाला लावतात तेव्हा त्यांच्या मूर्खपणाला हसावं कि त्या बाईवर आलेल्या संकटाने व्यथित व्हाव हेच कळत नाही.ज्या डॉक्टरनी तिची पहिली दोन बाळंतपण पहिली तो ठामपणे तिच्या नवऱ्याला का समजावू शकत नाही? केवळ आपल्या व्यवसायच गणित सांभाळत तिसर बाळंतपण कदाचित आई साठी घातक असुनही डॉक्टर ती केस हाती घेतात. या पेक्षा गंभीर बाब म्हणजे स्वतःच्या सोईप्रमाणे वेळेआधी सीझर करण्याच सांगून त्या नंतर मला वेळ नाही अस सांगूनही रुग्णाच्या घरच्या मंडळींची पंचायती करतात. तेव्हा डॉक्टर तुम्ही सुद्धा !अस म्हणण्याची वेळ येते.
ज्यांनी जिविताची काळजी घ्यायची त्यानेच जीवन संपवायचे ठरवले तर…
