ओळख स्वत:ची
पंधरादिवसांपूर्वीची गोष्ट मी नुकताच कार्यालयातून आलो होतो.चहाचा कप अद्यापि हातातच होता इतक्यात मोबाईल वाजला . आत्ता कोणाचा फोन ? मी नाराजीनेच उठलो मोबाईल पाहिला.विनोद गवारे यांचा फोन . ते पार्ले कॉलेज येथे उपप्राचार्य आहेत तसेच तंत्र व्यवसाय शिक्षण विभागाचे युनियन कार्यकर्ते म्हणूनही कार्यरत आहेत . क्षणभर मला वाटलं युनियन संबंधी काही असेल म्हणुन फोन असावा.” बोल विनोद कसा आहेस?काय म्हणतोस.” मी त्यांच्याकडुन उत्तराची प्रतीक्षा करत होतो. “अरे आमच्या काॅलेजचा NSS चा कॅम्प सफाळ्याला जातोय , तांदुळवाडीला, मला तुझी थोडी मदत हवी” विनोद नेहमी प्रमाणे त्यांच्या गोड आवाजात म्हणाला.
“अरे बोल ना काय मदत हवी? सध्या मी सफाळ्याला येऊन जाऊन असतो ,शक्य असेल ते जरूर करू” माझा आश्वासक शब्द ऐकताच त्याला हुरूप आला.
“अरे आमच्या कॉलेजचा समाजसेवा कॅंप सफाळे तांदुळवाडी येथे जाणार आहे ,दोन तीनशे विद्यार्थी कॅंपला आहेत.ब-याच विद्यार्थिनी आहेत.आम्ही नाईक फाउंडेशन येथे बुकिंग केलंय तरी थोडी काळजी वाटते कोणी लोकल माणूस ओळखीचा असेल तर मदत होईल.कोणाची मदत मिळेल का?तू तीकडचा आहे म्हणून विचारतो”
“मी हसलो अरे इतकंच ना ! तुझ काम झालं समज, मला थोडा वेळ दे, मी तुझी अश्या व्यक्तिशी ओळख करून देतो की त्याच्याशी बोलल्यावर तुझे सगळे प्रश्न सुटलेले असतील .”
माझ बोलणं ऐकल्यावर तो म्हणाला “मग मी तुझ्या उत्तरासाठी थांबतो , मला उद्या सकाळी कळलं तर बरं होईल.आमच्या कॉलेजचे काही प्रोफेसर परवा तिथे भेट देवुन येणार आहेत, शहरातली मुल आहेत काही गैरसोय व्हायला नको.”
मी त्याला म्हणालो “माझा कॉन्टॅक्ट झाला तर थोड्या वेळात कळवतो.”त्याचा फोन कट करून मी माझ्या मित्राला आणि आणि त्याच्या पत्नीला फोन करायचं ठरवलं. तो नेहमी बिझी असतो हे माहीत असल्याने मी त्याच्या पत्नीला फोन केला,
“माधुरी, मी बोलतोय , कशी आहेस ? ,”एकदम मजेत.” “तू कसा आहेस?आणि कशी आठवण झाली?” “मी हसलो, “अग ,थोड काम होत प्रवीण भाऊकडे ,आहे का?” अरे तो दिल्लीला गेलाय ,काय काम आहे सांग की, तो आला की मी तुला सांगते”
“अगं, पारले काॅलेजचे एन. एस.एसचे दोन तीनशे विद्यार्थी सफाळ्याला, तांदुळवाडीला कॅंपसाठी एक आठवडा जाणार आहेत मित्र साठे काॅलेजमध्ये उपप्राचार्य आहे त्याला विद्यार्थ्यांची गैरसोय होऊ नये म्हणुन मदत हवी, प्रविणभाऊला रिक्वेस्ट करायची होती.” ती हसून म्हणाली.” तू माझा किंवा प्रवीणचा फोन नंबर त्यांना दे मग प्रवीण त्यांच्याशी बोलेल.”
मी तिच्या म्हणण्या प्रमाणे प्रवीणचा नंबर आणि तिचा नंबर मित्राला पाठवला आणि त्याच्याशी बोललो.त्याला आश्र्वासित केलं , तुझे काम नक्की होइल.
मी सकाळी फिरून घरी पोचलो होतो इतक्यात मला फोन आला ” मंगेश सर, नमस्कार,मी प्रवीण बोलतोय, माझा व्हॉट्स ऍप बंद आहे.मी दुसरा नम्बर दिलाय त्याच्यावर तुझ्या मित्राला फोन करायला सांग.” मी त्याला म्हणालो, माझ्या मित्राला तुझ्याशी बोलायचं आहे, तू कधी भेटू शकशिल?” त्याने पुन्हा मोजक्या शब्दात सांगितल, “पाठव की रविवारी सकाळी, माझ्या ऑफिसमध्ये येवुदे.”त्याने संभाषण संपवले. त्याच शेड्युल बिझी असेल याची मला कल्पना होती.
मी मित्राला त्याचा नंबर देवुन फोन करायला सांगितल.दुपारी त्याचा फोन आला. प्रविणने रविवारी भेटायला बोलावले त्या बद्दल बोलला. दोन दिवसांनी विनोद आणि त्याचा स्टाफ प्रवीणला भेटले. त्यांच्या भेटीनंतर विनोदाने स्वतः फोन करून भेटीचा वृत्तान्त सांगितला. विनोद बराच प्रभावित झाला होता.प्रवीणने आपल्या मित्रांची टीम विनोदाच्या मदतीसाठी तयार केली होती.शिवाय त्याने आस्थेने त्यांच्या जेवणा विषयी विचारपूस केली. प्रवीणचा स्वभाव आणि त्याची कामावरची पकड यांनी विनोद प्रभावित झाला.
त्यांची भेट रविवारी झाली आणि मंगळवारी विद्यार्थ्यांचा कॅम्प तांदुळवाडीला गेला.कॅम्पची व्यवस्था साठे काॅलेजने “नाईक अॅकडमीमध्ये केली” होती परंतू प्रविणने आपल्या मित्रांची टिम मदतीला दिली होती त्यामुळे विनोदला कोणतीही अडचण भासली नाही. मी चार दिवसांनी कॅम्पला भेट द्यायला गेलो तर काॅलेजची मुलं मस्तपैकी स्थानिक मुलांशी विविध खेळ खेळत होती.शहरी आणि ग्रामीण हा दुरावा संपला होता.खर तर समाजसेवा कॅम्पचा ऊद्देशच तो असावा.शहरातल्या विद्यार्थांना ग्रामीण भागातील जीवन कळाव ,आपल्या बांधवांच्या अडचणी कळाव्या त्या उभयतांमध्ये एक ऋणानुबंध निर्माण व्हावा आणि तो दिर्घकाळ टिकावा हिच तर त्या कॅम्प मागची कल्पना.
कॅम्पसाठी आलेल्या विद्यार्थ्यांचे तीन ,चार गट करून त्यांना वेगवेगळी उद्दष्ट दिली. एक गट ओहोळाचे पाणी उन्हाळ्यात साठुन रहावे यासाठी दगडांचा बंधारा घालण्यात गुंग होता तर दुसरा गट गावातील रस्त्यांची डागडुजी मातीची भर टाकुनी करण्यासाठी उतरला होता. मुलींचा गट ग्रामीण भागातील महिला व मोठ्या मुली यांचे आरोग्य विषयी प्रश्न यांचे मार्गदर्शन मुलींना करण्यात गुंतला होता.त्यांना कळेल अशा भाषेत ,पटेल अश्या उदाहरणांसह त्यांचे समुपदेशन करत होत्या.
वयाने लहान आणि प्रकृतीने सोसो असणारा गट लहान मुलांसह खेळ खेळुन ,खेळातून शिक्षण आणि प्रबोधन करत होता. या सर्व मुलांवर प्राध्यापक लक्ष ठेऊन होते. त्यांना मार्गदर्शन करत होते. विद्यार्थी आपल्या पध्दतीने या येथील मुलांची आणि अशिक्षित समाजाची मदत करून देशसेवाच करत होते.
मी भेट दिली तेव्हा माझा मित्र विनोद, विद्यार्थ्यांना जवळ बोलाउन म्हणाला, “हे सर मुद्दाम तुमच्याशी गप्पा मारायला आलेत , ते गमती जमती सांगतील ,तुम्हाला ऐकायला आवडेल ना ! ” सर्वांनी मान डोलावली . मी मुलांसमोर जात नमस्कार केला.आणि मुलांनीही मला प्रतीसाद देत हवेत हाताचा पंजा हलवत नमस्कार केला.
भुताची गोष्ट सांगू का ? असे म्हणताच जी मुले त्याच गावातली, परिसरातली होती त्यांनी एकच गलका केला. ” सांगा सर ,सांगा, ” बरं ,बरं, पण जे भुताला घाबरतात त्यांनी हात वर करा पाहू” मी अस म्हणताच ,मुंबईवरून आलेल्या दोन चार मुलींनी देखिल हात वर केले.
मग अचानक माझ्या लक्षात आलं,”सांगा पाहू , रात्रिस खेळ चाले, सिरीयल कोण कोण पहात ? ” सात आठ हात वर झाले.मला मोठी गंमत वाटली. या मेडियाने नवं पिढीवर कोणते संस्कार केलेत ? आजही , या विज्ञान युगात भुत-भुताटकी , जारण-मारण, मुठ मारणे, भुत बाधा असलेल्या गोष्टी लहान मुलांसह समाजाला दाखवुन आम्ही काय साध्य करत आहोत?
अचानक हा विचार माझ्या मनात आला.मी मग मुळ पदावर गाडी आणली आणि लहानपणी मी गावातल्या शेजारी कुटूंबाकडुन कोणत्या कथा ऐकल्या होत्या आणि तेव्हा त्या भूतांच्या गोष्टि ऐकुन किती भिती वाटायची ते अनुभवासह सांगितल ,तेथल्या लहान मुलांना गंमत वाटली कारण माझ्या प्रमाणे त्यांनी ह्या कथा आपल्या आजी,आजोबा यांच्याकडुन
नक्कीच ऐकवल्या असणार याची मला खात्री होती. मी त्यांच्याकडे पहात विचारल “तुमीन भूत पायलाय का कंदी” मुलांनी नकारार्थी मान डोलावली , माझं काम सौप्प झालं.
मित्रांनो भूत आपल्या मनातच असतं, कोणत्याही अदृष्य भितीला आपण भूत समजतो.अंधार, किंवा कोणाकडुन ऐकलेल्या काल्पनीक अतीरंजीत कथा आणि मनाचा कमकुवतपणा किंवा मनावरील ताण अशा कोणत्याही कारणाने आपण अज्ञात गोष्टिला किंवा अचानक व अकस्मात घडलेल्या घटनेला भूतांच्या चौकटीत बसवून मोकळे होतो. माझं म्हणणं ऐकुन मुलांनी मान डोलावली. त्यांना किती पटलं, किंवा मुळातच पटलं का ?हे कळायला मार्ग नव्हता पण त्या दिशेने विचार करायला प्रवृत्त करणं ही पहिली पायरी होती.
समाजसेवेच्या कॅम्पमध्ये अंधश्रध्दा दुर करण्याचं थोडं काम मला करता आलं तरी माझं तिथे येण कामी आलं अस म्हणण्यास वाव होता. प्रवीण राऊतने आपल्या परीने मित्रांची फौज त्यांच्या मदतीसाठी देऊन समाजसेवाच केली होती आणि त्या बद्दल साठे काॅलेजने त्याला आभाराचं पत्थर पाठवलं असणारच यात शंकाच नव्हती पण विनोदन माझ्या अल्प सेवेसाठी मलाही आभाराच पत्र पाठवलं हिच तर विनोदची ओळख.प्रत्येक व्यक्ती अशीच वेगळी ओळख निर्माण करतो आणि समाजावर एक वेगळी छाप पाडून जातो. मुख्यतः म्हणजे आपल्या कामाचा कुठेही डंका न वाजवता स्तितप्रज्ञ रहातो हे विशेष.चला तर आपल्या प्रत्येकाला स्वत:ची अशी ओळख निर्माण करता यावी यासाठी कामाला लागू या ,
